Your offer of love
Answered in full
Peculiar Julia once gave me a prompt to write a letter of rejection to an offer of love. Here’s a made up one (in my mind at the time) when I was 16/17 and full of teenage angst.
Hi Michael,
In response to your enquiry dated 5th November 2003, I regret to inform you that on this occasion, and all future occasions, the answer is no. Quite a resounding no actually. Let me explain why.
Girls talk
Let’s face it, I am your third option. Like I understand what’s going on, we’re all in the same boat at this age. Some of our friends move between each other like dancing partners at a barn dance. But we never joined in that dance for one reason or another. That question can be answered another day.
Anyway, I know that you already asked E and S the same question. You did well in leaving some time in between, but it all seems a bit obvious doesn’t it? Perhaps you didn’t even notice and need to reflect on that. I don’t mean that in a bad way, but for you to really think about why you have this need all of a sudden. You weren’t this way before, what changed? Hormones? Insecurities? Boredom? Friends hooking up?

Besides that, you’re also not really part of our group. Yeah you hang out with us…
