“I’m a poet,
and I know it”
is the best way to start.

But people smirk
when you share -
a bit about your art.

I’m not the best
nor the worst,
I’m glad to say.

But a little poem
lifts me, and
brightens up my day.

So why was I shy,
to bite the bullet,
and tell them all.

I wasn’t a teenager.
There is no such thing
as being cool.

Is it a bit fancy?
Or even worse,
a bit queer?

I don’t give a flying fuck.
