Think before you speak?
Having it out now, later or never.
Think about your family. How many of them speak without thinking and how many think before speaking?
Then look at your friends. Then your colleagues.
If you’ve lived in more than one place, compare the two places.
I’m guessing there’s a mixture of thinkers and speakers, perhaps with a heavy leaning towards one or the other?
Is it generational, is it down to gender, to experience or something else? When I reflect on the groups I’ve mentioned above, you can’t pin it on just young men, or middle aged women, or world travellers or those that spent their whole lives in one house.
Losing your shit.
Here in Dalmatia, people are known for their direct chat. To your average Brit it may seem rude, but to locals it’s fairly normal. No beating around the bush, direct and clear, sometimes with temperatures rising from 0 to 100 in the blink of an eye.
Here are two examples of said losing shit and not really thinking:
My teammate passes to me. I’m one on one. I shoot, I miss. I turn around. A bunch of expletives are shot at me in Croatian, mostly including unkind ones about my mother’s vagina. From another teammate. It’s like we’re in the world…
