Look in the mirror right now. Oh you can’t because you’re staring at a screen, and apparently that’s what’s wrong with society today. Our communities have shifted online to Medium, Facebook, TikTok and who knows where else.

Yes, this is happening across the Mediterranean too, but just like so many pillars of the diet, community and communities still hold firm, both the people in them and the places where they’re held.

As we interviewed people of all ages, it was a delight to see just how much has been passed down from generation to generation, and that these generations still hold each other dear.

Here are three ways that community still meets, no matter whether they’re 3 or 93.

Around the table

Let’s start with meal time shall we, where families gather at various times of the day to enjoy some food together. We can’t deny that routines have shifted and meals on laps are creeping in. Yet the meals made are still hearty and wholesome, which is possibly why they still deserve their place on their pedestal — the dinner table.
