The Fellowship of the Pass

Nepal — Silly poems for your backpack

The amazing team that made it over the 3 peaks 3 passes trek.

There was no volcano
nor a special ring.
But a fellowship of sorts
this trip did bring.

Margaret was the first I met
A lady no height could scare
With a soft spot for all beasts
Especially those who take to air.

Then we were greeted by Pemba,
An adventurer, father and man
Who led us to places which wowed us all
And took us by heart and by hand.

With Pemba, one porter called Parki.
He’d help us with our stuff.
Carrying them all on his back
yet always smiling even when tough.

Brett awaited at a cafe.
A family man with a smile.
Revisiting the place he met his wife
Things had changed, it’d been a while.

Alongside him was his daughter Sam,
To share the experience on the way.
She needed time to ‘pick’ her doctorate
and had to eat dal baht every day!
