Nepal — Silly poems for your backpack
I’ve always admired ants
on their trail,
delivering goods to their nest.
Carrying food or material,
ten times their size,
whilst following the rest.
I’ve found their match now
on this trip,
but now in human shape.
They carry bags,
pots and pans,
super people, without a cape.
They hike up and down
without complaint,
up to 100 kilos on their back.
A bit of material to help
on their chin,
goods in baskets or a sack.
An occasional rest and a chat
or a tea,
to power their way.
Without these heroes,
many a climber,
wouldn’t have seen another day.
While I travel I enjoy writing a bit of poetry, mostly silly stuff, but all to remember the fun I had.
I recently completed the three peaks, three passes, Everest base camp trek — read more about that here and look out for my other poems!
