Is your money sitting pretty?
For some reason, a trip to the building society was a regular occurrence with my mum. I’m not complaining, because she had the foresight to open some savings accounts for us, her kids, and also her grandkids. This essentially paid for my tuition fees at university.
Whether or not it was this that got me reading more about investment, I’m not sure, but I always loved a leaflet whilst sat there waiting. The doctor’s was always an interesting place too.
I digress.
With an eye for FX and shares, I would also look in the financial section of the daily newspaper and imagine I had shares in certain companies. One of which, a holiday or airline company, over the period of a year, jumped by 100%. I was sure that I had a skill, and this surely encouraged my shift towards a career in trading. Some of you know the rest — spoiler alert — I fell in love with sun and sea and forgot about “making millions” in London.
However my curious eye for investing remained, and I look to play with any savings that aren’t doing anything. Since I play a lot more than the average Joe, here’s where my money sits, whether rightly or wrongly.
