Nepal — Silly poems for your backpack

The Hillary Bridge, before Namche Bazaar

It goes up, and it comes down,
Mud, stone, pebble, moraine.
Some go fast, some go slow,
On their own or in a chain.

Chicks with sticks and men in fleeces,
A colourful selection for sure.
Porters carry tens of kilos,
Whilst yaks tend to dirty the floor.

Watch out for falling or uneven rock,
Or ice that makes the floor slippy.
Carry water and take things slow,
Otherwise altitude sickness will make you dippy.

You’ll see some mules and dogs,
And hear different languages all around.
But the best part of the trail,
Is when there’s just nature’s sound.

Don’t forget to look up and around,
Make memories in every place.
Remember this trail is a journey in itself,
Not a destination or a race.

While I travel I enjoy writing a bit of poetry, mostly silly stuff, but all to remember the fun I had.

I recently completed the three peaks, three passes, Everest base camp trek — read more about that here and look out for my other poems!
