Noise

Nepal — Silly poems for your backpack

A lodge / washing line

The walls are but 3cm thick
and in some places that’s a lie.
Which is why you hear everything
from dogs barking to a fly.

At night it can be chatter
or a private call to a friend.
But it’s the noise early morning
that’ll drive you round the bend.

People upstairs pack for the day,
put on their boots and stomp around,
and if the coughing doesn’t annoy you,
it’ll be the hawking that gets you up.

While I travel I enjoy writing a bit of poetry, mostly silly stuff, but all to remember the fun I had.

I recently completed the three peaks, three passes, Everest base camp trek — read more about that here and look out for my other poems!
