It was that image that acted as the straw that broke the camel’s back. It came as quite a surprise too, since the person who sent it to me doesn’t know me too well, nor know what is happening in my life. Our conversations stick to one work related subject, and she doesn’t get the pleasure of my philosophical monologues that others endure.

She knows my age, and perhaps reads some of these blogposts, so was able to get that part right. But to be on that page, when I responded to her message on Instagram was too good to be true. Just like that the photo arrived, and finally this blogpost was born.

Becoming a veteran

There was a discussion at the beginning of this football season about which way the team should go. Do we stay in the same league where the average team is in their mid 20s, or do we shift to the veterans league.

I laughed it off, I had just turned 35 and would therefore be the complete baby in the league. A few other guys in the team would have been ineligible and would have had to find a new club. Some of the others older than me were for the move. In the end it was decided that we would stay in the same league.

I couldn’t even imagine shifting down a gear at this young age, and in my mind wondered what…
