Nepal — Silly poems for your backpack

Not all hikers have two feet. Beer/bear Garden Lodge, Phakding.

The central stove
where we all collect at night.
Padded seats and tables surrounding.
To be closest — that’s the fight.

There’ll be Fanta and hot showers,
some crisps and some sweets.
WiFi, charging and laundry,
and of course, alcoholic treats.

The prices go up,
as you get higher.
Further for the porters to carry,
but there’ll always be a buyer.

The room grows busier,
as the afternoon wears on.
The trekkers slowly arriving,
gladly, to finish their day.

That lodge casts a magic spell,
as everyone has a smile.
Proud of their day’s exerts
and able to rest for a while.

While I travel I enjoy writing a bit of poetry, mostly silly stuff, but all to remember the fun I had.

I recently completed the three peaks, three passes, Everest base camp trek — read more about that here and look out for my other poems!
