Language is a living thing, as it changes with time, evolves, develops and in some cases, dies. We saw a shift away from voice communication to text communication, and it seems like things are going full circle again.

Phone calls are generally reserved for the few, and video calls have made their mark during the last two years. The general thought was that phone calls were too intrusive, however video calls have taken that to a whole new level.

Meanwhile, at one stage we got used to being economical with the number of characters when we sent an SMS, yet whilst the abbreviations have remained, emojis have become the throw away currency.

Charges per message no longer apply, so people are free to spam you with

every

message

having

a line between.

Now to assess the trickier changes. Phone calls were at first heralded, as suddenly we could speak to people whenever, then came the mobile phone and it was wherever.

However there was still something a bit wrong, the ringtone that every call made, evoked different emotions for different people. At work it might have been along the lines of…
