Do you treat your body like your car?

The first of ten hopes this year

A bit of background

This will be the sixteenth year in a row where I have put together a list of 10 hopes and aims with a fellow friend. The idea is to not set typical resolutions about improving xyz but just putting out there what kind of things you hope for the year ahead.

Then a year later, we review from last year, and set for the year ahead. Sometimes we’ve reached 3 of our hopes, sometimes 8, and a few make the list year after year for one reason or another!

This year one of mine is to treat my body like my car.

How’s your car?

I recently had to get a new (refurbed) engine for my car. It started off with failing the MOT, and then having to go for a few tests, before the news was delivered. Then it was a couple of weeks inside to have all the work done, during which time I enjoyed bus life.

Every year my car has an MOT as required by law, and twice a year I’ll go and have an oil change and if there are any weird noises or changes let the mechanic know.

Now I don’t do what some people do and take their car to the carwash once a month, treating it to a soapy bath, sometimes a polish and even a hoover inside. No, I let the…
