Cho La Pass

Nepal — Silly poems for your backpack

A proud me after reaching the pass, tough conditions on the lungs and heart

Another early morning,
Ice on the window,
Porridge to warm up.

An instant incline,
Heart races away,
Time to slow down.

Rolling hills fade,
Giving way to steps,
A climb’s the only way out.

Fake summits at two,
But the third is different,
A glacier moves in.

On go the spikes,
The ice crunches underneath,
And you don’t fall over.

The gentle slope,
Takes you to the pass,
The view puts you under.

While I travel I enjoy writing a bit of poetry, mostly silly stuff, but all to remember the fun I had.

I recently completed the three peaks, three passes, Everest base camp trek — read more about that here and look out for my other poems!
