They got us. They finally got us. Who would have thought?

417,301 hours left of community service to go. At least they didn’t throw me in jail I guess, nor give me a fine. Their simplified way of punishing you, kind of makes sense, although it’s not fair. But when is justice actually just?

I say they didn’t give me a fine, but in reality I couldn’t afford the fine and they knew I’d never be able to pay it.£423,252 is quite hefty, especially when I only earn £50,000 a year. The jail sentence didn’t make sense either, I’d rather spend that many hours being a servant than being stuck between 4 walls and porridge for each meal.

We all took different punishments though. Some of my friends could afford the fine, and paid it straight away, others see it like a second mortgage, albeit a bit larger. A few of them went to jail, but their crimes aren’t as bad as mine, although that’s also not fair, I was just the messenger. Nevertheless the law states it’s only punishable at the source, not further down the chain.

Then there’s the suckers like me, who took community service. I thought it was going to be the usual. Looking after some older people in their homes, helping single parents manage their kids and their chores, or cleaning up nature. Not…
