From tiny house to traditional house

A palace compared

How did that all fit in there?

I thought to myself as I finally left tiny living to return to an actual house. A choice to some degree but with a certain nudge in the back, as my partners-in-crime had moved away to save for their eco-camp dream and in turn I decided to vacate their land onto pastures new.

I had enjoyed/endured almost 18 months in my personally designed, custom built tiny house, and saw it as a stepping stone in a three step plan.

Take 1

Eighteen square metres in total, with a hand built compost toilet and unevenly tiled bucket shower for the bathroom, a sink fed by rainwater and two top gas stove for the kitchen, a clickety clackety sofabed and a fluffy soft rug for the living room and finally a mattress thrown onto a mezzanine for the bedroom.

Rustic to say the least, it was cosy and comfortable, and on leaving you were surrounded by pine trees with a sea view. The occasional goatherd walked through the land, heckling the goats to stop eating the olive trees, and in hunting season some mountainous guy with a shotgun and dogs who sniffed out the rabbits. Both welcomed me with a smile, even though they were ultimately on my land.
