2024 — the Year of Enjoyment

Busting out my flamenco moves

I ended 2023 the same way 2024 started — on top of Mount Kenya. Which was part of the reason that I hoped that 2024 would be the year of enjoyment after a couple of years of less than ideal circumstances.

Well this year didn’t have the perfect start either, because at around 2am on New Year’s Day I actually stepped in a puddle of someone’s urine (I was busting, in a mountain hut, didn’t put on my shoes), but the days after made up for it. First the long hike back down after three days of walking up, and then to visit a local nonprofit football academy and soup kitchen supporting street kids.

The adventure continued as I went on a fantastic safari, spotting the big four and pretty much in awe the whole four days. It was all facilitated by a legend of a driver and tour guide, who was so calm, kind and funny, and gave us a true experience of a lifetime.

Then it was time to return home and get back into the swing of things.

Winter wonder

Things at the start of the year were pretty stable. I had a brilliant week in Finland visiting our partners and introducing some colleagues to them. I got to see Muse in London, and had the half marathon back in Split again. I finished under 1:30 as planned after a less…
